Teen/Young Adults (13-21 years)

It is mid-June, graduation is done, now what? Are you prepared for this question? Have you spent the time to think about what your options are and how you can achieve your goals? Do your goals match your abilities? What do you want to be doing 10 years from now?

These are all questions that need to be addressed long before graduation from high school. Change and transitioning are difficult for individuals on the spectrum, regardless of what that change is.

Young Adult Transition Services

We designed our Young Adult Transition Services to help teens and young adults make a confident step from high school into adulthood. With one-on-one guidance, we teach practical life and vocational skills, explore employment opportunities, and support greater self-reliance so each person can build a fulfilling future beyond graduation.

Through personalized support, we teach essential life and career skills, explore job opportunities, and promote independence, empowering each individual to build a fulfilling future after graduation.

Adolescence

Adolescence

During adolescence, social interaction challenges are most apparent during this difficult developmental stage. Individuals with ASD sense difficulty ‘fitting in’ and understanding the hidden rules and intuitive knowledge that their neurotypical peers often seem to have developed so easily.

I have heard individuals tell me that “….there is some secret that everyone knows but me, and no one will tell me what it is. How do I find this answer?"

Infants

Individuals are often diagnosed with ASD when their development is not consistent with expected behaviors. When infants do not interact or ‘attach’ typically to their caretakers, they are often identified early on, i.e. they do not look at faces of the caregiver, have differences in sleeping/feeding patterns, and have early infant temperamental concerns.
